We have loved our holiday here in Normandy.  Thank you for your kind welcome and such a perfect place to relax and have fun.  Games room, hot tub & DVD library (for poorly 12 year old!!) all added to a wonderful week.  Late October ‘summer’ weather helped too!!  We would definitely like to come back with my parents next year☺.   Enjoy a peaceful winter break!!

We’ve had a lovely time here in Normandy.  The gte was perfect for us as was cycling around the quiet country lanes.  Eating out at ‘midi’ was also a great pleasure and very good value.

Well, what can se say!  After a rather cold, wet August in the UK we arrived in Neuilly to the most glorious weather and, as ever, a warm welcome!  We have read, eaten and drank and slept like logs.  The recently renovated museum at Ponte du Hoc is well worth a visit – it is still the most moving of all the sites we have visited.  It must have been extraordinary to have been here in June – we saw much of it on the television and wished we were here.  We had two glorious picnics at Brevands – the bird life is marvellous!  Thank-you so much for including us in Sam’s 21st Birthday celebration, the cake was yummy – Mary Berry watch out!!  Until next time.  With love.

John & Celia Carden – Chichester

Gte 1 01/09/2014

Dear Juliet & Chris – Sorry we didn’t see you to say goodbye.  We have had a fantastic time in Normandy and wanted to say how lovely the gte was.  Spotlessly clean and so peaceful round here we both slept really well.  Thanks once again for a lovely holiday.

Elizabeth & Roger

Gte 2 23/08/2014

Thank you for providing the perfect gte and location for our family’s Normandy holiday.  Everything we needed, and more, and the Games Room was a real winner (although my son beat me at each Table Tennis game).  The children loved the sandy beaches and thought it unfair that England has all the stones on their side.  The WWII commemoration areas; the cemeteries, museums, bunkers and beaches are all within easy reach, and fascinating for all.  We will remember them – and this holiday for many years to come.  Thank you again.

A very relaxing week in a well equipped, spacious gte.  A fantastic base for exploring the local area.  We especially enjoyed the Bayeux illuminaires ‘Tree of Liberty’ light show and an evening meal at La Flambe which offered fantastic food at a reasonable price.

Craig & Shirley – Northampton

(How could I forget the evening pre-drinks in the hot tub!!)

Gte 2 09/08/2014

Chris, Juliet & Shirley.  Thank you once again for a lovely stay.  The welcome pack was most welcome, and thanks for getting the washing in!  We enjoyed going back to Balleroy – Julia’s favourite place and the D Day museum at St Laurent sur Mer was very moving.  We also went for a meal at La Flambe restaurant, which was delicious and good value with the exchange rate.  We went to look round the Chteau at Colombiers, but, whilst interesting, decided it wasn’t as good value as Balleroy.  Thanks again for your hospitality.  A la prochaine!

Gte 2 18/07/2014

Chris & Juliet – Our family has really enjoyed our stay at your lovely gte and are already planning on coming back next year, the warm welcome you gave us was fantastic, the central location of the gte is fantastic for anyone wanting to explore the region.  The gte was very well presented with everything you would need for a really good break.  The D-Day beaches are close by as are some fantastic museums, the American Cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer was very poignant.  Once again a very big thank you and see you next year *****

Gte 2 05/05/2014

In spite of ‘mixed’ weather we have had a wonderful relaxing stay.  The new tank museum at Catz is worth a visit – especially if you like tanks!  Lovely food and a warm welcome from all the family always makes our stay here wonderful!!

John & Celia Carden – Chichester

Gte 2 26/10/2013

THANK YOU!  We have had a fantastic week!  The gte is warm and comfortable with all that we needed.  All the beaches are not far away – we enjoyed the journeys through the quaint villages.  The excellent museums and presentations helped us to understand what happened here on D-Day and the months that followed.  We particularly liked the museum at Pegasus Bridge.

Oliver, Valerie, Ginny, Jo & Jon – London & Kent

Gte 1 02/10/2013

Thank you so much for a lovely peaceful and welcoming stay!  We will, without a doubt, be back again.  We spent most of our time celebrating our engagement, which was proposed at UTAH beach which is quiet and allowed us to have an almost private area just to ourselves!  The accommodation was perfect and well stocked, we made good use of the braai (barbeque!).  Also, thank you for the tea, coffee, milk, etc it was a nice surprise!

Love Samantha & Nathan – Berkshire

Gte 2 23/09/2013

Another wonderful stay at our favourite place; probably the best!  Helped by unseasonably glorious weather – too many jumpers and not enough T-shirts – we have had a wonderful break.  The newly-opened ‘Overlord Museum’ is well worth a visit.  Just opposite the US Cemetery it contains a huge amount of memorabilia and, most important, an impressive collection of vehicles of all sorts, that played their part in Normandy during the Second World War – including a ‘Bren Carrier’ partly designed by one of John’s forebears – Valentine Carden.  At Chris and Juliet’s suggestion we walked along the canal path from the port of Carentan to the lock.  It was fascinating to see the boats moored there from Southampton, Dover, Teignmouth and Dell Quay! Lunch at ‘Le Contoir des Marais’ was a treat!  Good service and a terrific view.  Thanks to Shirley we had the best (windfall) apples to have roast pork and apple sauce on Saturday.  For any vegetarians I can add that Carrefour has plenty of aubergines, artichokes and peppers and that the market at Isigny has carrots, leeks and wonderful spuds that have all seen the earth and need a wash!  Thank you to all of you for a marvellous holiday!  A bientt!!!

Celia & John Carden – Chichester

Gte 1 21/09/2013

Once again ‘our every need’ was catered for!  Very much appreciated – thank you.

Lila & Peter White – Shepperton

Gte 1 14/09/2013

Many thanks for your warm welcome and help in ‘travelling light’ as we are dependent on our cycle panniers for luggage.  We have very much enjoyed our stay in Gte 1 and the area – we will certainly recommend to friends and would come again ourselves.  Three cycle rides we would recommend –

    • Via Isigny, then up the east side of Baie des Vey
    • To Carentan, then up the East side of Canal de Carentan, at least as far as the aqueduct
    • To Airel, then by Voie Vert to St L
  • We have found motorists very considerate, both on minor and major roads – but we do ride single file on all roads.  Thanks again.

Brian & Hilda – Sheffield

Gte 2 24/08/2013

Thank you again for another lovely holiday.  This was our second time here and everyone enjoyed it just as much as the last.  Very relaxing with loads to enjoy without leaving the house and gardens.  Kids loved the games room and hot tub the most, and the daily trip to get the ice-cream.  Thanks again for everything you have done, we look forward to coming again soon.

Nick, Charlottte & family

Gte 2 17/08/2013

We’ve had a lovely holiday and are sad that it has come to an end.  Thank you for your hospitality and use of the comfortable gte which has everything we wanted/needed.  Highlights of our trip have been visits to Mont St Michel, Bayeux, Avranches and Omaha beaches.

Miranda, Jack, Ron & Elliot

Gte 2 29/10/2012

Gte 2 suited our needs admirably.  The boys spent and enjoyed many happy hours in the games room.  Despite the changeable weather, we managed to visit all the beaches between Ste Mere Eglise and Ouistreham and only got wet once! on our final day.  We were v. impressed with the wonderful display of D-Day events at the American Cemetery at Colleville, all free.  This and the German Cemetery at La Cambe, and the British Cemetery at Bayeux gave us all food for thought.  Just hope the youngsters remember all this in their exams.  Thank you for your help.

The Caldwells – Ipswich

Gte 2 17/10/2012

We have enjoyed our stay in your gte and thank you for your hospitality.

Gte 2 17/09/2012

We have had a lovely 10 days here.  The gte was lovely and clean and has everything you need.  The pool & spa were great although a bit chilly for the pool!!  Isabelle had a wonderful time in the garden!  We would recommend Jurques Zoo, Mini Train de Marais, Dead Man’s Corner Museum, Crisbecq.  Thanks for bringing in the washing on the last day!

Lynton & family – Norfolk

Gte 2 03/09/2012

Many thanks for a very nice week.  Gte No 2 was very clean and comfortable, just like a home from home.  The Games Room was a nice addition and would be most welcome if the weather was bad; as it happens we had a brilliant week, but still used it.

Pam & Roy Bartholomew

Gte 1 01/09/2012

As usual a wonderful restful stay in our favourite place!  We have done the usual things – lunch at Le Caf du Port at Maisy, picnic at Pointe de Brevands.  May we recommend a picnic at Le Grand Vey.  Take the road through St Marie du Mont towards Utah Beach and turn off right to Le Grand Vey.  Go past the little camp site and turn to the left by the sea wall.  Eat bread, cheese and enjoy! Bonne Vacances!

John & Celia Carden - Chichester

Gte 2 19/08/2012

We absolutely loved our stay here in Gte 2.  There are so many places to see and explore (Omaha, Utah, Pointe du Hoc and all the quaint villages in between!).  The hot tub and swimming pool were probably the highlight of our stay here and the games room a huge hit with the kids!  Thanks so much for a wonderful and comfortable stay.

Gte 1 04/08/2012

Our 3rd visit here now and still finding new places.  We went to the trotting races at Carentan – trs French!!!  Also the velorail at Cond sur Vire was much fun.  Great to spend a week with the Gerrelli’s (see above).  Have a lovely rest of Summer and see you all again.

Kerry, Miles, Ted & Lily

Gte 2 11/08/2012

Our 6th visit to Chris, Juliet, Shirley, Jon & Sam here in Neuilly la Foret after 2 weeks in Brittany.  We really enjoyed visiting the places, which we have become accustomed to, over the past years including Coutances, and the gorgeous beaches.  It was fun to spend the week with Miles, Kerry, Ted and Lily (although they may not feel that way!).  Thanks again for a great stay.

Martin, Natalie, Isabella, Amelia and Lilia Gerrelli

Gte 2 04/08/2012

Thank you for a great week.  Everyone loved it and with 4 children that is hard to say.  The gte is lovely, just like being at home.  Thank you for leaving the lights on when we came it was really kind.  Hope to see you next year.

Nick, Charlotte & family – North Yorkshire

PS TV was great especially so we could watch Team GB.

Gte 2 28/07/2012

Thank you so much for a great week.  The gte is lovely, a home from home but with the added luxury of the games room, hot tub and family pool!!  With 4 children aged 10, 11, 13, 15 there was something for everyone.  (Thank you for bringing in the washing!).  It has been our first visit to Normandy and it has been lovely to spend time visiting the D-Day beaches whilst viewing the beautiful region.  Everyone has been very helpful especially with our limited ‘French’.  We would certainly recommend your lovely gte (with the friendly welcome and help when needed!).  Thank you so much.

Jo, Nigel & family - Peterborough

Gte 2 21/07/2012

We have all had a great week here.  Thank you so much for lovely welcome and also for your kindness and generosity.  The gte is wonderful and has everything we need.  The garden is fantastic, not to mention the pool, hot tub, sun-beds etc.  The flying fox and trampoline were a hit with the younger ones!!  We are already planning a return visit, which is a definite MUST.  Once booked we will then recommend!! Otherwise we may be too late☺ - Thank you again.

Howard Mole & family – Scotland

Gte 2 03/06/2012

A really nice place to stay.  Omaha and Utah beach were really worth a visit as were the British and American War Cemeteries.  I really enjoyed the hot tub, swimming pool and trampoline.  Thank you so much.

Aileen

Our first visit to Normandy and we have had a wonderful time; particularly as this year the school holidays coincided with D Day celebration week.  There are so many places we have not had time to visit and we hope to be back.  On our very wet day it was lovely to have the games room, hot tub etc.  Thank you for your hospitality.  We have enjoyed everything we have done.

Claire

Lovely place especially during D-Day week.  Visiting all of the places were really interesting.  Great gte, excellent to stay in.  Loved the house and facilities.  Dream come true.  Thank you.

Theo

An excellent week with lots of memories to take home.  It was really special to have spent this week here in such a lovely place.  Bayeux was so worthwhile to visit especially on Saturday for the market.

Henry – Bristol

Gte 2 04/05/2012

Back again!  In spite of poor weather we have had a relaxing break – pottering, reading and watching the aerobatics of the house martins!  Have eaten too much and drank plenty of wine.  Special thank you to Jon for two splendid trout!  Cannot wait to return in September.  With thanks for your wonderful hospitality.

John & Celia Carden – Chichester

Gte 2 18/11/2011

Another wonderful break – helped by glorious sunshine!  Ready to face the winter and can’t wait to come back in May.  Thank you as always.

Many thanks for a lovely week.  You have all been very helpful and made us feel very welcome.  The gte is lovely and very well equipped.  Its been a good first holiday in France, and will def come back again.  Thanks again.

Theresa, Caroline & Jake – Wiltshire

Gte 1 12/09/2011

Many thanks for a lovely week.  The gte is comfortable and well equipped – everything we needed.  We would have liked a bedside lamp on both sides of the bed.  There is so much to do within easy reach.  We have visited various D-Day sites and walked along the beaches, it is so peaceful now.  We have also seen lots of wildlife in various places.  It was great watching wildfowlers at Brevands.  Also enjoyed the market at St Lo.  We now have a long list of what we would like to do next time we come!  Thanks for the warm welcome.

Stella & Gerald

Gte 2 5/09/2011

‘Papillons’ – a very well equipped home from home.  Lots of places of interest to visit within easy driving distance, including Bayeux, Caen, Carteret and, of course, the D-Day beaches.  Don’t miss the splendid Liberation interpretation boards in St Marie du Mont – they bring the whole conflict so vividly to life.  Don’t try to drive into the centre of Caen – leave N13 at junction 5 for Herouville.  Follow the signs to the ‘P & Tram’ signs, leave your car in the car park between McDonalds and the tram stop.  Buy a ticket from the machine at the tram stop for €3.20, to include up to 5 people, parking for your car all day, and a ride to and from the city – by far the easiest and cheapest way of visiting Caen.  Thank you Chris & Juliet.

Clive & Josette Wilkin – Hampshire

Gte 2 28/08/2011

Oh dear, time to say ‘au revoir’ to our favourite place in Normandy.  Another wonderful break with so many thanks to Chris, Juliet, Sam and Jon.  Our first time in the larger gte – and very good too!  The weather has been glorious as has the food and wine.  A few suggestions/recommendations:

  • The Caf du Port at Maisy is very good – Moules Frites and a few other ‘Plats du Jour’ well worth a try.
  • The refurbished museum is superb at Utah Beach, including a genuine B-26 bomber.  €7.50 per adult but I’m sure a Normandy Pass would be better value for families.
  • On our last day we had a picnic at the ‘Pointe de Brevands’.  Marvellous for looking at all sorts of birds – egrets, waders etc.  With a pair of binoculars we saw so much, including wildfowlers out with their intrepid dogs!  To get there, take the D974 towards Carentan and turn off on the right to Catz and Brevands.  Breathe in on the last part of the road, but there is a turning place at the end!
  • An exceptionally well appointed gte with very good neighbours!  With thanks for a wonderful time.  See you all soon.

Celia & John Carden – Chichester (also Michael & Margaret Foyle, for the day on Friday 2nd September!)

Gte 2 13/08/2011

Kerry, Ted and Lily’s second time here – my first time.  Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks.  A big thank you to Martin & Natalie (see above) for telling us about this gte.

Gte 2 23/07/2011

Incredibly we have come to the end of our 5th visit to Neuilly La Foret.  Once again Chris, Juliet, Shirley, Sam and the fabulous Jon have been the perfect hosts.   After a crazy year, 3 weeks has been the most amazing tonic.  Pierre and Odette (next door) have also been very generous with their fruit with plums being plentiful.  We have visited our usual haunts and our favourites remains the numerous beaches on the North shore.  Port Bail, Bricquebec (the market being a must), and the multitude of historic sites including Sword Beach where my Grandfather landed on D-Day.  We will continue to recommend/invite our friends to this gem, and we hope to be back again very soon.

Martin, Natalie, Isabella, Amelia & Lilia Gerrelli & Ruth (mother in law) who joined us for the last week

Gte 1 30/07/2011

Lovely gte with everything you need.  Couldn’t fault it in any way – shape or form. C, J & S – you have been fantastic to ensure this is a home from home holiday.  We can’t thank you enough.  Fantastic area and will see you again for another holiday in La Libellule.  Many thanks.

Alex, Jem, James, Cameron & Fraser ‘Blok’ (Yes we did all stay in a 1 bedroom gte!)

Would recommend: Monday market at Bricquebec, the little train – run by English family with fish and chip van! Takeaway pizza from Isigny

Gte 1 18/06/2011

What sets this gte apart is the little things eg: tea tray, fresh rosebud, full roll of toilet paper!  We have spent a really good week exploring the area and doing all the things we wanted to do.  We are moving over and exploring the area (coastline) to the east next week.  We have really enjoyed ourselves and spent a good week here.

Anne Marie & John – W. Yorks

Gte 1 11/06/2011

We have had a lovely time here, the facilities are second to none.  It makes a change to go on holiday and have sharp knives!  One thing though, where’s the teapot!  The house is in an excellent position for all of Normandy, we have spent days out at Bayeux, St Lo, at the Normandy beaches as well as many a museum in between!  The information in the house (leaflets a plenty) are very useful when it comes to choosing where to visit, better than the Tourist Information!  On a practical note the shower is very slow draining and could do with a strong drain cleaner*, and the mattress is near the end of its life*, but neither of these things can detract from the brilliance of the house and our time in Normandy itself.

Steve & Catherine Stocker – W. Sussex

*Appreciate these construction points which have all been addressed - C & J

Gte 2 29/05/2011

Thank you for providing such great facilities for kids, which has helped us have a very enjoyable stay.  Love the peaceful and scenic location of the gte and we will recommend you to friends.  Highlights for us have been the:

  • beach of Omaha – lovely orange sand, no stones or weed (tide comes right up though)
  • Jardin d’Elle near Villiers-Fossard – spent a good couple of hours looking round (beware they close for lunch)
  • Centre Aquatique at Saint Lo, would be great for kids of all ages, but phone for opening times as weekends they don’t open until midday.
  • Thanks again.

Another wonderful break and no rain!  Thank you for all your kindnesses.  We’ll be back in September.

Gte 2 09/04/2011

We have had a great time!  The weather has been excellent, and the gte is great.  The games room, the DVD collection, the spa, and the gardens, all help to keep everyone happy and entertained.  After a busy week, there is still so much to see, I hope to come back again soon.  Some favourites:

  • Mont Saint Michel – a must see!
  • Bayeux Tapestry – of course!
  • Pointe du Hoc – amazing landscape
  • Longues Battery – Guns still in place
  • Arromanches – Museum and harbour
  • Omaha Beach – sea and sand, great fun for the children.
  • Thanks for a great holiday.

  • Lovely gte!

Back again for another break.  Apparently we brought good weather with us after storms and rain!  As ever, a relaxing time in one of our favourite escapes.  A bracing walk at Maisy after Moules Frites has blown away the UK cobwebs.  We will be back!

John & Celia Carden – Chichester

Gte 2 04/09/2010

Thank you so much – really beautiful and the hot tub was a real hit.  We now have a new ping pong champion in the family – until next time!  Omaha Beach was stunning – great for windsurfing and kite flying.  Best wishes.

Gte 1 01/09/2010

This is our second visit to La Libellule this year.  In May it was chilly and overcast but we still had a wonderful break.  The weather has been marvellous, as is the gte, which is perfect for two busy people needing a complete break.  A few tips:

  • If it is windy on Utah Beach, park in the car park (out of season!) and have a picnic at the tables provided.
  • The beach at Barnville-Carteret (Barnville Plage) is wonderful for children and grown ups.
  • For buying your provisions go to the supermarket at 2.00pm – hardly anyone there but only one or two tills open!
  • Finally, thank you to Juliet and Chris for a little haven and tremendous hospitality.

John & Celia Carden – Chichester

Gte 2 28/08/2010

We have all really enjoyed our stay here.  The gte is perfect for us and our weather couldn’t have been better.  The children have made the most of the pool and the hot tub and have already asked when we can return!  I didn’t realise there was so much to do in the area, and with plenty still to see, I would love to return.  Thank you for a lovely relaxing week at short notice!  Kind regards

Another great 10 days in Normandy.  Isigny ice creams still great value at 1 euro each.  Pointe du Hoc great for kids who want to run around.  Visited Bayeux war graves – very moving.  Went to Omaha, Utah and Gold beach.  Arromanches cinema very good also.  Bayeux public gardens very pretty also.  Children enjoyed watching films at St Mere Eglise, Utah museum, found them very interesting.  Visited markets at St Lo, Carentan, Isigny, Grandcamp, all great.  Excellent hosts and loved the gte again (3rd time) would happily recommend to anyone.  Thank you so much for all the little extras left for us.

Had a fantastic holiday here in Normandy.  Gte is very spacious and well equipped.  Thank you for being so welcoming to us.  Children especially enjoyed the play facilities and we all had a relaxing time in the Jacuzzi.  Visited many D Day sights and much more.  Recommend brasserie opposite butchers in Isigny for a good value lunch time meal!  Will definitely recommend the gte to our friends and hope to return again ourselves.  Au revoir.

Very pleasant week spent in ‘Les Papillons’ whilst visiting Grandcamp Maisy, Bricquebec, Carentan, Le Mont St Michel, and Barnville Carteret.  Enjoyed the tranquillity of Neuilly la Fort and the variety of countryside that this part of Normandy offers.

Beautiful place, great facilities.  Thank you to Natalie & Martin for recommending it.  We loved Grandcamp Maisy, St-Laurent-Sur-Mer and the zoo park at Champrepus near Villedieu-les-Poles.  Hope to come back next year when Miles is home.

Griffith’s recommend the Route de Cap, very reminiscent of Devon/Cornish coast, but with more sun.  Utah & Omaha Beaches very moving!  We also learnt to use a DVD player!

Gte 2 04/06/2010

What a wonderful short break.  Wonderful gte and fantastic amenities – Tim & Em particularly keen on pool!  No chance to sit still – book still unopened!  Dashed from games room to bikes then to swimming, just time for the supermarket and of course some culture.

The Griffin family – Somerset

Loved the swimming pool and zip wire – Emma xxx

Gte 1 13/05/2010

What a haven after a hectic few months for us!  Super gte, excellent hospitality and the best few nights sleep we’ve had in ages.  The nearby landing beaches are close and the Pointe Du Hoc is particularly moving.  For those needing to walk off the superb cheese and butter, try a drive to Gefosse and see the miles of oyster beds.  We’ll see you in September.  With grateful thanks.

Although we only had 3 days here we enjoyed it immensely.  The gte is wonderful.  So well equipped, not least of all the superb shower.  Thank you for everything.  We would have no hesitation in recommending this to friends and family.

I for one enjoyed our visit to Normandy and I think the rest of the family did.  The children loved the garden and splash pool, and most especially the Jacuzzi!  Weather started really well and was fine for most of the week.  We really enjoyed our day in Bayeux. Cheers.

Our first visit but not our last.  We have had a great time, the girls loved the garden and Games Room.  We have seen so much in just one week, but we will stay longer next time.  Thank you for your warm welcome.  Thank you again.

Mandie, John, Laura, Chloe & Gill & Ray

Thank you this has been a fantastic holiday home for the week.  I have seen a lot during the week.  Lots more interesting places to see when we come next.  I want every holiday to be as nice as this one.  Thanks for letting us use the garden and games room.

Laura – aged 14

Gte 1 08/08/2009

Our second trip here, just as enjoyable as the first.  The freedom for the kids is great with the games room and garden.  The new zip-wire went down very well with our girls.  Cite de la Mer – very good.  Not a cheap day out, but we spent the whole day there.  They get you to imagine you are going on a mission to the bottom of the sea, great fun!  The slate caves were very good, with an English tour on speakers as you go round – fantastic water and lights show.  Thanks for another enjoyable holiday, I will continue to spread the word about the great gtes.

Regretfully we have now come to the end of our 4th visit to Neuilly la Foret.  The gte was terrific, our hosts were again foot perfect and Jon & Sam are an absolute delight.  We were very pleased to have bought our friends from home for our first week and they had a really fun time.  In addition to the usual places we visited some of the beaches on the North Coast, which previously had gone unseen (Verville Sur Mer (Omaha) and Luc Sur Mer).  Finally, we will continue to recommend this ‘gem’ to our friends and family and we hope to see you again very soon.  Best regards.

First time in France as a family and very enjoyable too.  Excellent facilities here with plenty to keep the children occupied during the inclement times!  The spa was a great hit to all.  Driving on the right and exploring the D-Day sites was fun as was practising our almost non-existent French in the local markets.  Would recommend the:

  • Nature trail by the river and Chateau
  • Utah beach
  • Arromanches 360 & free train
  • Lighthouse at Barfleur (superb views)
  • Ideal location as a base to explore and will pass the word to others!  Thank you and merci!

Excellent house and facilities.  Had a lovely holiday.  Weather a bit changeable but didn’t affect our enjoyment.  We visited many of the D-Day sites and particularly recommend:

Longues Sur Mer Battery

Pegasus Bridge & Museum

Utah Beach & Museum

St Marie du Mont village and museum

We also had great fun at the Velorail at Conde-Sur-Vire.  Also the bird watching in the Cotentin National Park.

So much to do! Can’t wait for our next visit.  Thank you for a lovely place to stay and your friendly help and advice – Adam loved the pool and games room.  I loved the spa bath!

Lovely gte and our boys loved the games room and garden.  Definitely would recommend to all our friends.  We have had a week of wonderful weather, and would recommend:

  • Arromanches 360 cinema and beach
  • German battery at Longues Sur Mer
  • The lighthouse near Barfleur (375 steps and a fantastic view)
  • Pointe du Hoc (especially to see all the bomb craters)
  • Hope you have a fantastic summer, thank you for your hospitality.

Best ever find on the internet!  We had a really great time the Gte is very clean and comfortable.  We came to lay flowers on my husbands uncle’s grave at Bayeux Cemetery which was very moving.  We also visited many other D-Day sites.  Wish we had planned a longer stay.  Thanks for the warm welcome and DVD’s.  The hamper was delicious.  Hope to come back again and bring the rest of our family.

We have had a lovely ‘break’ here at ‘La Libellule’.  The gte was everything we hoped it would be. Excellent recommendations to ‘La Foret des Elfes’ and the karting just down the road.  Hopefully we will be back here again with the rest of the family (someone has to work!).  Good welcome and Normandy hamper, great to arrive at after a long days travelling.  Homemade damson jam delicious. Thank you.

We have had a lovely 4 day break, meeting with our family & grandchildren who live in France.  Stephen 11 yrs, Keira 3/12yrs and Erin 13 months had great fun on the trampoline.  Stephen enjoyed playing table tennis with Jon who is a lovely young boy.  We had mixed weather but had a bbq a few evenings and sat outside.  Visited all the cemeteries and beach.  Thank you again for your hospitality and lovely clean gtes.

Sadly we have come to the end of our third trip to Neuilly la Foret.  As usual great Gte, great hosts and really superb weather.  Pierre, Odette and family have been very generous with their vegetables as usual.  In addition to visiting the regular places (Bayeux, coast between Grandcamp and Ouistreham) we have also explored the beaches to the west of us, St Germain etc, which are sandy, expansive and very beautiful (plus quiet).  We will continue to recommend this great place to our friends (Bryn & Helen, and Kate & Tony), and we hope to see you again in 2009.  Best regards

This has been a great trip for us with our 17 moth old son, William.  It has been so relaxing from the wonderful gte to the easy-to-access surrounding towns and villages.  Bayeux was great as was Le Mont St Michel.  The beach at Omaha provided the perfect afternoon.  We will come back to explore the places we’ve seen again and a few more new ones.  Plus William will want to come back to see his friends – the chickens!  Thank you!

Best wishes, Fiona, Chuck & William – London

Gte 2 01/09/2008

Our first ‘taste’ of Normandy was grabbing some fresh bread & cheese on the coastal road from Cherbourg and eating lunch on a secluded tiny beach – wonderful.  After touring the coastal road we arrived at the Gte to a warm welcome from our hosts.  The gte is lovely, spacious with everything you need.  Although the weather hasn’t always been on our side, we’ve had some lovely days out to Grandcamp Maisy, Omaha beach and the Memorial Centre, then on to Bayeux.  The Tapestry was amazing, and so long. The best day was Le Mont St Michel, a bit of a climb with two little girls (pram abandoned) but well worth it.  The Abbey was incredible.  Followed by a quick trip to the Alligator Bay.  Pont du Hoc is worth a visit, although quite windy!  Finished off the holiday with an amazing lunch in La Mare (blue front) in Grandcamp Maisy, excellent food (miserable maitre d!!)  All in all a fantastic holiday, will highly recommend it to friends.

We too have enjoyed the bargain ice cream in Isigny Sur Mer.  Unfortunately the weather has been rather gloomy during our stay at this lovely gte, but this hasn’t stopped us having a great holiday.  We would recommend the forest adventure experience at St Sauveur le Vicomte and if you want an exhilarating and wet experience try the canoeing at Conde Sur Vire.  The beaches on both sides of the Peninsula are lovely I just wish we had had the opportunity to lie on them!  The go-karts at the end of the road are great value and very entertaining for teenage kids. Hagrid has been the highlight of our daughters stay – and the dopey chickens.  Typically as we leave it promises to be a lovely sunny day!

Thank you for a lovely relaxing holiday.  The gte was fantastic with all the little extras you wouldn’t expect.  It’s like a home from home.  Our tips for a good day out: The velorail near Falaise was great fun, take a picnic, you can stop half way to eat.  The Arromanches 360 cinema was really good and good value too, also a free little train takes you up the hill to it.  The mini railway near Periers is nice, also good park and play area.  Try Isigny Sur Mer butter and cheese factory for huge great tasting ice cream for only €1!  Thanks for being so welcoming we will definitely recommend your gtes to all.

Thank you all for a wonderful stay.  The gte was beautiful and everything we had hoped for.  We have enjoyed exploring the area especially the D-Day beaches, Bayeux and Luc-Sur-Mer.  We thought the gardens at Brecy were wonderful!  The beaches at Barneville-Carteret are stunning, especially on a hot day.  The girls have loved playing with Jon (and friends) in the garden and fields.  We will be recommending this fantastic place to our family and friends.  Thank you again.

Thanks for a lovely stay – the most peaceful place that we have ever stayed at!  We have enjoyed the company of the chickens!  Excellent facilities in a great part of the world to visit again.  Thank you for your hospitality – it has been a real French retreat.

Hello to you all.  The end of our fourth visit!  As ever we have had a wonderful time and the weather even allowed 2 BBQs.  Neuilly is the perfect place for touring Normandy.  This year we visited many ‘old places’ but if you are interested in D-Day, I can recommend the newly opened Battery site at Grandcamp Maisy.  Au revoir.

To Chris, Juliet, Sam & Jon (especially Jon who was great with M & B).  It’s the 64th Anniversary of the D-Day landings and what a superb time to be here!  The beaches and memorials are amazing, especially:

  • Batterie de Maisy
  • Point d’hoc
  • British War Memorial in Bayeux
  • But make time for a trip to Mont St Michel, and whilst you are there nip to Alligator Bay especially at feeding time (15.30).  Awesome location and a great base for our 1st holiday in Normandy.  PS Loved the plum jam.

Love from Bryn, Helen, Max & Bronwyn

Gte 1 31/08/2007

We have had a fab holiday, the gte is lovely – with everything we needed.  The welcome pack that was an extra was lovely especially the cidre & home made plum jam!  Port-en-Bessin was one of our favourites and Bayeux for me although I think my husband was pleased we got there about lunch time as there are plenty of shops!!!  We can also recommend the dead man’s corner museum along with the batteries at Longe Sur Mer – avoid the underwater museum as it was a little disappointing.  Overall a fab, interesting and relaxing holiday we both love this area of France and hope to return again soon.  A Bientt.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and the advice for different activities to do.  The beaches have been great, Utah a must for boys because of the dunes.  Go-Karting down the road a great find.  On the whole a wonderful and relaxing holiday.  A place we will recommend to friends and family.

Thank you for a lovely holiday!  The gte is great, plenty to do for the children between excursions.  Utah & Omaha beaches are absolutely beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside.  The ice cream factory is well worth a visit at Isigny Sur Mer!  We will definitely return if only to visit the beaches!!! Many thanks for your hospitality.

To Shirley, Chris, Juliet, Jon & Sam our excellent hosts.  We enjoyed everything – difficult to pinpoint the highlight, but we loved Shirley the goat – the hens and hot tub.  Also the bikes – Fireworks (Bastille Day), our favourite town Carentan, we recommend a walk around the harbour and they have a swimming pool outdoors by the harbour 2-3 euros.  Comfortable 5* gte, everything we needed and more besides.  Even the weather was good – it mostly rained at night.

Thank you so much!  We had a wonderful time. The gte was delightful, light and spacious and equipped with everything we needed.  We really enjoyed La Flambe, which is a lovely restaurant.  The Bayeux Tapestry, and Mont Saint Michel were our highlights.  Looking forward to a return visit one day!

This has been a really lovely break.  The surrounding area is beautiful and we will recommend Normandy and the gte.  We recommend the Saturday morning market at St L and the fudge factory at Isigny.  The weather has not been on our side, but this has not deterred us from having a lovely time.  We will also miss Shirley! (the goat).  We had such a lovely warm welcome too on arrival, and would definitely come back here!

Thank you all very much for your kind hospitality.  We have had a wonderful weeks’ holiday here – a beautiful gte in a perfect location.  We would never normally return to a place we have visited (too much of the world still to see!), but have already considered making an exception for here.  Thanks Shirley for allowing us some free time to ourselves – the girls loved your company, and thanks to little Jon too – we think the girls loved you just as much! Yet again, we’ve had a marvellous stay!  The weather if anything was a little too fine (we’re not used to so much sun & heat).  The countryside was even more beautiful than I remembered, and there’s so much to fit in.  The location is lovely and central and the gte as always was more than comfortable – a little home away from home!  The back garden has really come into it’s own now, and the use of the spa and splash pool a very welcome treat in such warm weather!  We look forward to seeing you all again as we shall certainly return!

Love & warm wishes to you all ….
