Cabin equipped with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. Extremely clean and tidy, much more comfortable than a bivvie! We fished approx 3.5 days of the week as we wanted to sightsee. The location of the site is perfect for reaching both coasts. We landed 22 carp between 7.5 lbs to 21 lbs common and mirror. The majority were mid doubles. Some hard fighting, we lost approx a dozen. The fish all looked in excellent condition. P.V.A bags and halibut pellets and krill boilies worked well for us. Never used bait boat. Margins definitely worth a go. The hosts, Ray and Jean were friendly and attentative, they helped to make our weeks stay perfect. Will definitely come back for more fishing and sightseeing. Great food and hosts
Colin and Tracy 05/09/15 to 12/09/15
Really pleased with the accommodation, nice size chalet and the shower was excellent. Fish were in excellent condition, even the roach we caught float fishing fought hard and were great sport. Would recommend Raynbowend to anyone and hope to return soon.
Modern, Clean and comfortable accommodation with all you need for this holiday break. Our party of three (2 novices!!) caught over 40 fish totalling 737 lbs YES 737 lbs…. 19 of our fish were over 20 lbs. Ray and Jean are the nicest, most obliging, friendly couple you could wish to meet. You are not customers – you are friends. Do not miss this if you want a relaxing, fun fish.
Paul, Darren & Martin – 16/05/15 to 23/05/15
Lovely cabin well sited by stream, very tranquil. Beds comfy, kitchen well equipped, all you need for the week. Good range of DVD’s, shower excellent, larger visitors may find WC a bit cramped, but nothing to put you off coming to this beautiful place. Toilet on lakeside is a good bonus.
Did’nt really get among the bigger girls but had plenty of fish to 20 lb with good sprinkling of upper doubles. Fish scrap well and are in excellent condition, clean and pretty. Caught mostly on boilie over pellet, with several on maize over maize. We both caught fish every day, even had a couple out of the stream (it’s irresistible).
We had a great time here, it is a beautiful spot, perfect for a relaxing week. Ray and Jean are the best, a lovely couple who can’t do enough for you. Jean’s homemade food is excellent.
Andy & Tony – 06/09/14 to 13/09/14
Cabin more than adequate, fantastic, lovely hot shower. Could’nt fault fishing, stunning fish from 10 to 26.5 from what we caught, some looked like they had never been hooked before. Thank you for your hospitality, you made us feel very welcome, good luck in your endeavours.
Steve & Tom – 11/10/2014
The cabin is well equipped with everything you will need for your holiday, very clean, shower is good, cooking facilities and comfortable beds. The lake is beautiful with lots of good size fish to catch. The three of us fished for a week and had a wonderful weeks stay with Jean and Ray, could not fault anything whatsoever!
The three of us caught fish from the off and caught regularly through the week, in total 685 lbs of carp to 20 lbs, total line 59 fish. The carp in Rays’ lake are pristine and put up a good fight whatever the size. The commons we caught were some of the nicest fish seen anywhere. The lake is a good size and not much weed which is good. We fished on one side of the lake and fished across to the far side where most of the fish came from, find your spots, bait them up and the fish will come.
We would like to thank Ray and Jean for an absolutely wonderful stay with them at Raynbowend, they made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Jeans home made cooking is second to none and every meal that she prepared for us was amazing and that is no exaggeration! The food was better than any French fishing trip we have been on, and we’ve been on a few. Jean even prepared a French dish for us which was a triumph. We have had such a pleasurable week with Jean and Ray. Thanks again Ray and Jean for welcoming us to your little piece of paradise, we look on you as friends now, and will keep in touch.
Ray and Jean, you are lovely people, don’t ever change! You have looked after us more than we deserve this week, we wish you luck happiness in everything you do and look forward to seeing you in the future, our new friends xxx

Other great week at Raynbowend which sadly ended all too soon. Fantastic weather added to the great surroundings and ever enjoyable banter with Ray and Jean. Fishing was great although the hot weather made fishing during the day unbearable so we relaxed during the day and fished the evenings only. Mostly upper double figure mirrors with several 20+ fish banked for good measure. Ray and Jean remain the perfect hosts and can’t do enough for you, managing to do this without ever being obtrusive. We’ll be back next year!
This really is a little piece of paradise! This is a place I truly feel drawn to and whilst staying there for the second year running I spent a tranquil afternoon with Jean. She taught me how to meditate properly and following this I had a Reiki session. This was an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone. I left there feeling extremely relaxed and chilled out and with a greater understanding of all things spiritual. See you next year Raynbowend

Hi. arrived home at 3am sunday 30th june from a great week at raynbowend. the weather was great. we didnt see any of the surrounding area but it looked mainly farmland. the place itself is split by a narrow road with the cottage and stream in one field and the lake and owners property in the other. its a really nice quiet place which is well maintained. ray and jean are wonderful hosts who go out of there way making sure you have a great time. we have never fished in france before and i can say i didnt find it easy. my biggest carp was only 18lb 2oz. i must say chris did a lot better than i did catching plenty of fish his best carp going 20lb 2oz and 20lb 9oz. as for food i chose to have all my meals cooked for me and i’m so glad i did. jean is a great cook who prepares all the meals from fresh produce. there is a great selection for lunch and evening meals but for breakfast i always went with the full english on a bun and no washing up afterwards so you can keep on fishing. thanks again for a wonderful week. harvey and chris.

Turned up and had a very warm welcome from Ray, Jean and Angel (pet dog). The owners, straight away we had a lovely cup of tea and friendly chat about the lake and PTS surroundings. Ray put us into the hot spots and advised where to put our rods. So we put our two biveys close together and got our rods out. In no time we were into carp. They started from 5 lbs to 20 lbs, we caught mostly on plastic corn but also caught on maize, pellets and mixed boilies. We had a great week catching 80 carp, we had a tremendous weight of 911 lbs in total. Even though we caught so many carp Rich did loose a very big one, as we anglers say “the one that got away” lol! The weather was a big bonus as it was sunny and not raining. Big tip – fish the far bank close as possible and a bait boat if you have one. We are looking forward to coming back. Many thanks again to Ray and Jean. 25 Commons and 55 Mirrors.
Kev & Rich – 14th to 21st June, 2014.
Excellent, well equipped, very clean chalet in peaceful surroundings. Nothing too much trouble for Jean and Ray. Fishing was great, so much action, you don’t even need to fish the nights. Good average size fish, landed 85 inc. 5 x 20 lb, biggest 21 lb. Fish in immaculate condition and to top it off, Denise landed her first 20 lb’er (one and only time she fished!) Thank you Jean for taking me for a walk in the village and organising the vets for us. Otter enjoyed meeting Angel! Really great meeting you and hope we are able to come back soon!
Ben and Mum Denise 7th to 14th June 2014
We We went for the fishing. Ray’s lake offers a lot of fun and a beautiful location. The owners are the nicest people and Jean can provide excellent fodder. Although we elected to semi-self cater we had breakfast delivered lakeside and it was a wise choice. Jean bakes a fine cake which rounds off breakfast each day.
Only a few minutes from Carentan and the Normandy landing beach of Utah. We visited a week before the 70th D-Day anniversary. A moving experience and well worth the trip.
Supermarkets close by so no need to leave the lake for too long. So what are you waiting for?
Martin and gang 24/05/14 to 31/05/14
Booked at first bivvie ony but a few months before decided to go with the chalet and was both glad we did. The chalet has everything you will need, oven, grill, toaster, stove, as well as a shower and wash room and to top it off, English Sky TV, DVD player with a large collection of DVD’s. The beds was a little too comfy as we had alarm set for 6 am every morning but could’nt get our of them! 10/10 for accommodation and facilities. We only fished days approximately 8 am to 9 pm and the exact amount (we have pics to prove this)was 150 fish, 149 being carp (1 roach) ranging from 5 lb to 19.10 lb, the 19.10 lb which we named scar was actually caught 8 times in the week, once, twice in an hour. The carp ranged 60% mirror 40% common and all gave very good accounts of themselves in the fight. The fish are of a high quality and we pulled out some stunning fish, one being an 18.11 lb common which was by far the nicest common I have ever come across. We also lost easily 30 fish so the final tally of 150 was amazing. We would both like to thank Ray, Jean and Angel (the dog) for making us feel so welcome from the start. We felt comfortable from the start with coffee and a chat. Ray tells you all about the lake which helps a lot and a quick tour around the chalet. We would also like to thank Jean seperatley for cooking our breakfast and bringing it to us every morning which is really nice and sets us up for the days fishing. Really hope to return again in the future, thanks again for a great week!

Raynbowend – Taking the hassle out of Carp Fishing in France
Whether you are looking forward to doing your first fishing trip across the channel or you are a seasoned angler in France who is looking for something a little less pressured – then Raynbowend is the place for you.
I can’t quite put my finger on it but Ray & Jean deliver something that is very special in the way that they make you feel at home from the moment you arrive – nothing is too much trouble.
The accommodation is spotless, convenient, has all the comforts of home and best of all it is wonderfully situated by a little stream created by the main lakes over flow – yes, we did fish it and our personal best was a little 8lb common – proper Mr Crabtree fishing.
The main lake is relatively easy to work out and catching good-sized fish with quality fishmeal baits should be at your leisure.
Ray & Jean don’t try boasting to having the biggest carp in the world and to be honest with you they don’t need to – they have a great mix of stunning, fit and hard fighting carp that seem obliged to giving you a good holiday.
We fished (very, very) leisurely for about 10 hours a day over 4 days without doing a single night and averaged well over a fish per hour – in fact at one point I had 3 carp at the same time, which was an entertaining first for me.
If you are the type of angler who prefers “drive & survive” or fisheries that promise an endless supply of 50’s that seldom show – then this is probably not the venue for you. However, if you want a good break that puts the enjoyment back into fishing then without a doubt go to Raynbowend:
The drive is easy
The fishing is good
The accommodation is great
The location is perfect
Ray & Jean are brilliant (thanks again)
See you soon,
Phill and Dave 04/05/14 to 09/05/14
With a very warm welcome from ray and jean, This time we travelled from Portsmouth to le,harve which is still only 90 mins by motorway to the venue and means you arrive early afternoonish, it then gives you time to unload and settle in. The weather was great this year after last year rained for hole week. The fishing was excellent caught 43 fish nearly all mirror carp except 2 all doubles the biggest being 25 pounds and a total catch weight of 618 pounds only fished days no night fishing was needed the fish are in perfect condition Bob is not a carp fisherman he fishes for any thing on light gear with the hope of picking up something a bit bigger ,he had 3 PBS the biggest being 18 pound common on 5 pound line it was a good fight but bob did win. Jean done her usual and brought our breakfast roll to our swim with tea cake and orange juice every morning. The chalet is very good and has everything you need in it we had a BBQ every night after a days fishing with a few beers will be back next. Well done ray and jean
Paul and Bob -Returned to Raynbowend exactly 1 year on 05/07/13
A perfect piece of Normandy with excellent hosts which left us thoroughly relaxed and refreshed. We visited mainly for the Carp fishing which was great fun and we lost count on most days of the number of fish we caught, mostly upper teens with the odd twenty sprinkled in. The fishing was so good we didn’t find the need to fish overnight so were able to enjoy the comforts of the lovely chalet every night. We also caught some nice carp and roach in the stream alongside the cabin so give that a go too. Ray and Jean couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel like old friends within minutes of being there. There are good local shops in Carentan which is only a 5-10 minute drive, and the Normandy landing beaches are within easy reach if you want to do some sightseeing. We’ll definitely return soon.
Phil & Terri – 15th to 23rd June 2013
From before we even arrived, Jean & Ray were the perfect hosts. They briefed us on the lake and swims in terms of its ‘fishability’ & from then on they left us to our quest to land fine carp. What a delightful time we had, from the delightful grub that Jean rustled up for us, to the glorious location and wildlife, to the excellent quality and quantity of carp that we managed to net, we simply couldn’t have wished for more. We look forward to sneaking back to Raynbowend again, hopefully to snare some of the even bigger beasts that are lurking in the shadows and to sample some more of their fare.
Phill & the lads – 14th to 16th June 2013.
Very happy with the accommodation. Approximately 50 hours of fishing, 40 carp caught, fish are of great quality, everyone of them pulled out very nice! Very warm friendly hosts.
Kelly & Luke – April 2013.
We spent a week in July at Raynbow end. Ok the weather was not great, but our trip was not marred due to the great welcome we had from Jean, Ray (and the village!). The chalet is perfect and certainly met our need. Well equipped, clean, everything tip top condition. We would have had more bbq outside except the weather did not permit. We were there for the fishing only, and I must say what a picturesque fishery this is and the lake is very well maintained. We were able to fish anywhere around the lake and night fishing would not be a problem. We often fished near the main chalet as Jean brought us out a delicious breakfast every morning. I must say she spoilt us rotten and if we had wanted to we could have had an evening meal. I was there mainly for the carp fish, Bob was more interested in a smaller catch. We did discover that the fish do not go for luncheon meat, so we have several tons of it to bring back!! We did fish well on sweetcorn and halibut pellets. The carp (both mirror and common) ranged from 18 – 22 lb but I think they go bigger. The fish are perfect, not damaged what so ever (well done Ray). Bob caught various roach, tench and carp. Bob also fished the river next to our chalet and caught carp (5lb) tench, roach and an eel. Jean and Ray are very accurate in their description of their place and it is indeed on 45 minutes from Cherbourg. Very easy to find, especially when the village is waiting outside the pub for you!!!
We had a great time and have booked again for next year and the only thing we hope is better is the weather.
Paul & Bob – 6th to 13th July 2012.
Well so where to start! When we came back to Raynbowend we had high expectations as when we last came we had stayed two night’s bivvyed up and it was amazing great fish were caught constantly. Well it definitely lived up to expectations. This time we came back for a week and in the chalet, the chalet is brilliant really clean and very comfortable. Jean and Ray were very welcoming and made us feel at home as before we caught some great fish from both the lake and river. While Lee was fishing me and Jean got talking and I found out more about her spiritual side so on the last day she did some Reiki with me. Well I think it’s an experience that everyone should at least try once, it was really relaxing and Jean was spot on with her feed back. We are definitely coming back may even be this year again! Thank you Jean and Ray you both are really good company and amazing people. We are so grateful for all your help and hospitality we look forward to coming home again soon!
Lee & Kayliegh – 2nd to 9th June 2012.
Came for Carp fishing, we stayed in the newly built timber chalet. We highly recommend the chalet because of excellent heating we were warm, it was very clean & comfortable with all amenities. The lake is very picturesque & well kept with a very high head of healthy carp. we had an excellent weeks fishing, catching up to 20 fish per day, ranging from 7lbs to 21lbs, plenty of high teens. Excellent condition, mirror & common carp, no doubt the one that got away was a monster! we probably had in excess of 100 fish in the week. Bait used: C C Moores Odyssey xxx Boilies with matching pellets, with a large quantity of mixed particle. Tactics: Fishing very close to the margin trees, ledgering close as possible produced a very exciting bite, making it a challenge to bring them away from roots. Overall opinion of our holiday: All aspects of the holiday were excellent, with convenient shops, a local friendly bar. Ray and Jean were fantastic hosts, very friendly & helpful which made the holiday even more enjoyable. Jean supplied a fantastic breakfast, egg, bacon & sausage bap, accompanied with slice of homemade cake & coffee, brought to my swim each morning!
Rob & Sue Halsey – 13th to 20th May 2012.
We visited Raynbowend this May which was only meant to be a 24 hour fishing session but as we were enjoying ourselves so much we ended up extended our stay. We caught well from start to finish, my PB being two 23lb carp, all fish we banked ranged from 15-23lb and in perfect condition. The fishery itself is both picturesque and accessible for every ability angler. One side of the lake is flat banked and grassy perfect for bivvy’s and for a group of people wanted to fish sociably together also having nice features to fish to. The other side of the lake is more rough and ready ideal for those wanted to fish more secluded, also being perfect for stalking. We didn’t need to use excessive amounts of bait and found that all catches were on a varied range of flavored boilies accompanied with a small offering of pellet.
Both Ray and Jean (the owners) we’re so pleasant and welcoming, that the four of us that visited were so happy we had chosen to visit Raynbowend. Only three of us were fishing but my partner enjoyed sitting in the peaceful setting of the fishery and popping into the lovely local village that was within walking distance. We loved this place so much that two of the four of us have booked to go back for a week next month. I have recommend this place to family and friend already as it has something for everyone, idyllic fishing, on-site toilet with a new shower block to come but for those not wanting to rough it in a bivvy, there is the brand new cabin set on land which in my opinion a little piece of heaven. I can only say that to anyone looking to visit, just book it! Thanks again for making our visit memorable.
